We negotiated the terms of our relationship early on... He set forth his demands & expectations: "Absolute Sovereignty, Zero tolerance for Domestic Violence". My Terms? "Promise me you will always tell me the Truth" "Yes", he Replied. Then one day I asked the thing I was most Curious about... "How many?" How many people have you killed? There was a long pause, then the quiet and slightly proud response "Triple digits". My follow-up question sought Clarity: "And since you left the military?" Another long pause, then a quiet and confident "Yes". So rare to tell a truth so dangerous. I doubt he disclosed this often. But I never really knew him. He cultivated being unknowable. And I loved the mystery, which held space for my Projections and Fantasies.
